I imagined wrinkles, slowing down, and quietly fading into the background.
But somewhere along the way, life surprised me.
Today, as I stand on the edge of this new decade, I don’t feel like life is ending.
I feel like it’s finally beginning.
Not because everything has been perfect.
Quite the opposite.
I’ve been a teenage mother.
A single mother.
A divorcee.
A grieving mother.
A caregiver.
A woman who has questioned herself more times than she can count.
I’ve experienced heartbreak that changed me forever.
I’ve cried tears no one ever saw.
I’ve started over more times than I ever imagined.
And yet…
Here I am.
Still standing.
Still believing.
Still becoming.
That is what the Sexy Sixties mean to me.
It isn’t about looking twenty-five.
It’s about finally knowing who you are.
It’s about choosing peace over proving yourself.
It’s about realizing that wrinkles are simply proof that you’ve smiled, cried, laughed, and lived.
I’ve stopped apologizing for taking up space.
I’ve stopped worrying about everyone else’s timeline.
I’ve stopped asking for permission to become the woman I was always meant to be.
The woman in the mirror isn’t perfect.
She still has insecurities.
She still has days when she wishes her body looked different.
She still wonders if she’s enough.
But now…
She smiles a little longer.
She speaks a little softer.
She forgives herself a little quicker.
She knows that beauty isn’t something you lose with age. It’s something you earn through every lesson life gives you.
The older I get, the less interested I am in pretending.
I want real conversations.
Real laughter.
Real faith.
Real growth.
That’s what Simply Lili has always been about.
This space isn’t just about shopping.
It isn’t just about podcasts.
It isn’t just about pretty things.
It’s about creating a community where women remember that life doesn’t expire after fifty.
Or sixty.
Or seventy.
If you’re reading this and wondering whether it’s too late to chase your dream…
To wear the dress…
To start the business…
To heal…
To love again…
To reinvent yourself…
Let me lovingly remind you…
You are not behind.
You are not forgotten.
You are not finished.
Maybe this next chapter won’t look anything like the last.
Maybe that’s exactly the point.
Here’s to gray hairs that tell stories.
Here’s to laugh lines that remind us joy won.
Here’s to healing.
Here’s to faith.
Here’s to second chances.
Here’s to becoming.
And here’s to getting ready for the Sexy Sixties.
I have a feeling they’re going to be the best years yet.
A Little Reflection
Before you go…
Take a quiet moment and ask yourself:
What part of my life am I still apologizing for?
What dream have I been putting off because of my age?
What would I do if I truly believed it wasn’t too late?
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
